What is an Electronic Cigarette?

Electronic cigarettes, sometimes called vapes, or vaporizers, are battery powered devices that utilize a heating element to convert E-Liquid into Vapor.

Electronic cigarettes contain a few different components.

The Battery

The battery Is what sends power to the heating element when you press a button. This power will heat up the e-liquid to the point that it turns to vapor, which is then inhaled by the user. These devices are often referred to as "mods." Each mod can contain a few different features: buttons to change power settings, a power button to turn the device on or off as well as fire the device, and a 510 connection which the "tank" or "atomizer" will screw into. The battery in your device can either be internal (meaning that it is built into the device and not replaceable) or external (meaning that you can take the battery out and put a fresh one in.

The Atomizer

The atomizer, sometimes referred to as a tank, is the part of the device that contains both the coil and the e-liquid. Some tanks have a reservoir that holds enough e-liquid so the user doesn't have to refill it constantly. Some atomizers called "droppers" are devices that contain an exposed coil that the user will drip e-liquid directly on to. These types of devices don't have reservoirs.

The Coil

The coil is the heating element of your device. These are often replaceable units that contain wire and a wicking material (usually cotton or rayon) to absorb the e-liquid that surrounds it. When the user presses the button on their battery, the coil will heat up the liquid that has been absorbed by the cotton and turn it into vapor. Some devices require that a coil be built by the user.

What is in E-Liquid?

There are generally four ingredients in E-Liquid. The ingredients will be listed on the side of your bottle.

PG (Propylene Glycol)

PG is generally a thinner liquid that is responsible for carrying or intensifying the flavoring in an e-liquid. Propylene Glycol can also be found in baked goods, medicines, cosmetics, soap, etc.

VG (Vegetable Glycerin)

VG is generally a thicker liquid that is responsible for increased vapor production. E-Liquids with a high ratio of VG can produce more dense, thick vapor. Vegetable Glycerin can also be found in baked goods, sweeteners, and a filler in foods


Nicotine in E-Liquid comes in several different strengths that will be noted on your bottle. The most common nicotine strengths are 0mg, 3mg, 6mg, and 12mg, where mg = milligrams of nicotine per milliliter of e-liquid.

Artificial and Natural Flavorings

Both artificial and natural flavorings are used in E-Liquid. These are what make your E-Liquid taste the way that they do. Tobacco flavoring will make your E-Liquid taste like tobacco, menthol will give it a cooling sensation, etc.

My E-Liquid Tastes Weird

There are a number of external factors that may impact why your favorite e-liquid just doesn't taste right!

  • Bottle Handling: Please shake the bottle before use. Keep your E-Liquid away from sunlight. Some flavorings in e-liquid can separate, and while this is totally harmless it can effect how the product tastes. Shaking before use ensures that the product is well mixed.
  • Dehydration: Vaping can dry out your mouth and tongue. This can cause a condition known as "Vapor's Tongue" where you aren't able to taste or distinguish flavors as normal. Make sure to keep yourself hydrated. Swapping to a different flavor for a short period of time can also wake up your taste buds!
  • Coils/Atomizers: After prolonged usage, coils will need changing. A change in flavor or harshness are hints that coils need changing. Please note that there is no definitive time that you need to change your coil - it is entirely subjective. If it doesn't taste right, try changing the coil! When changing the coil, you can also clean your atomizer to ensure proper operation and quality of vape. Take the atomizer completely apart - making sure to keep track of all parts and o-rings. Running it under cool water and drying with a paper towel should be plenty! Make sure to not wash your coil underwater, or any part of a battery as this can be dangerous.
  • Check your wattage: Tinkering with the wattage of your device can help find a sweet spot for both you and the particular E-Liquid that your vaping. On a new, properly primed coil, start at a lower wattage and work your way up. Some coils have a recommended wattage range printed on the side that you can use as a reference.
Trouble Shooting Tips

It can be very frustrating when there seems to be issues with your device. Sometimes it could be something simple like running low on liquid, running out of battery charge, or simply burning out your atomizing device (cartomizer/tank/clearomizer). Having the power of knowledge is something that can save you time, money, energy, as well as prevent you from going back to smoking. Here are a few common problems that arise with devices that Vape Dojo provides.

Problem: I charged my battery and nothing happens! The button on my vape doesn't light up at all!

Answer: Many devices have a built in safety feature that will allow you to "lock" your device for safe storage in a pocket, or purse. Quickly press your power button 3-6 times (varies depending on device). You will usually see a flashing light that will indicate the device is unlocked.

Problem: My device is on, my tank is attached, but there is no vape!

Answer: This is most likely an issue where your tank is not making a proper connection to your battery. Ensure that the battery terminal is clean (you can use a paper towel or Q-Tip). Make sure that your tank is also properly screwed into your device.

Problem: My tank is leaking E-Liquid out of the airflow, what is going on?

Answer: Leaking can happen for several different reasons. If you are using a new tank, or just recently swapped the coil, it's possible that the device was overfilled or that there is liquid in the center tube. You can confirm if your tank is overfilled by trying to take a puff and seeing if you can get a clear, clean hit, or if it's gurgling. If it's gurgling, it's likely that the device was overfilled. You can try blowing outwards through the center mouth piece to get rid of some of the excess E-Liquid. If this solution doesn't work, try disassembling your tank, and reassembling with a new coil.

Due to high volume during and after holidays, please note that there may be delays but we are doing everything we can to ship your order as soon as possible!

My Tracking Information Says “Delivery status information is not available for your item via this web site. A return receipt after mailing may be available through your local Post Office

Don’t worry, this is normal! USPS is still updating the tracking information. The tracking should update by around 9pm EST on the day it ships. If you order by noon EST, your order should ship same day, otherwise it ships the next business day. Please keep in mind that our online fulfillment and the post office are closed on Sundays.

The tracking information says my order is delivered, but it has not arrived!

Unfortunately we don’t know where your package is either. If you received tracking information, we definitely sent it out! Make sure you check every possible place your mailman could have left your package. The mailbox, front door, back door, your roommates, etc. If you still have not found your package, it’s possible your mailman made a mistake and marked the package as delivered by accident. Sometimes they also mark your package a little too early as delivered when they are still in the process of bringing it to you. If your packed has definitely not been received, please give your local post office a call and they may be able to find your missing package or let you know what happened. If the post office can determine that your package is indeed lost, send in a customer service ticket and we will help you out from there.

Where is my package?! My package tracking has not updated or has been stuck in the same place for a while.

This happens sometimes. On occasion, the post office does not update the tracking in a timely manner but your package is still on its way to you. If it is past your scheduled delivery date, call your post office and they may be able to locate your package and get it on its way to you. Check your order confirmation email as well to double check that the shipping address is correct. If the post office determines that your package is lost or being sent back to us for any reason, send us a customer service ticket and we will make sure your package gets to you!.

Return Policy

Vape Dojo offers a 14-day return policy on all hardware with a demonstrable manufacturer's defect or the hardware is unopened and sealed in the original packaging. A return can either be exchanged for the same model or can be used as in-store-credit for the purchase of a different product.

Please present original receipt of purchase upon return. If for some reason, you have misplaced the receipt and are also part of our loyalty program we may be able to retrieve the information in our system. Vape Dojo will attempt to assist in troubleshooting your device.

In the event, we are unable to help with a solution, or your return is outside the 14 days, you will need to contact the manufacturer. Vape Dojo will be happy to assist in this process for returning your product to the manufacturer.

Unopened E-liquid eligible for return up to 14 days for in-store credit or exchange. No exceptions.

Vape Dojo reserves the right to deny a return if a product is damaged or faulty due to a user error, which may include but is not limited to:

  • Stripped threading
  • Cracked glass
  • E-Liquid in battery terminal
  • Broken charging port
  • Signs of damage from dropping or mishandling
  • Sale items: All sales are final
